Our new timetable recently went live with a totally new route running between Brighton and Eastbourne. The 11X establishes direct links to Drusillas, Firle Bostal, Middle Farm, Charleston Farmhouse and Eastbourne General Hospital. It runs on Sundays and public holidays.
It’s already been busy, proving popular with families enjoying the beautiful weather over Easter, when it carried more than 900 passengers. In fact, it was so popular we had to run an extra bus for the last return journey on Good Friday afternoon.
The new timetable also heralded the start of a flexible night service for East Brighton, the N21, on board our 16-seater Spirit of Sussex minibus.
The N21 runs hourly from 1.05am to 3.05am on Monday through to Saturday nights – the last one being Sunday 3.05am – between Brighton Station and Whitehawk bus garage, via Queens Park. Passengers on board can also ask the driver to stop at other Whitehawk stops.
No pre-booking is needed and passengers can use cash, contactless or their normal NetworkSaver ticket. This service will run all year round.
Other timetable improvements include extra morning journeys from Newhaven to Brighton and extra evening journeys from Brighton to Newhaven, on Sundays and public holidays between 16 June and 15 September.
Metrobus route 3 doubles in frequency
Metrobus’ expansion of its route 3 service has been a real boon for residents at Forge Wood housing estate. Increasing the frequency of buses to every 30 minutes during the day between Monday and Saturday has doubled Forge Wood’s connection to the airport and town. We’ve added earlier journeys and an additional afternoon journey has been diverted to provide a homeward journey for Gatwick School children.
