Metrobus Crawley bus driver Margaret Dommett competed against 90 other drivers in the 2018 Bus Driver of the Year finals in Blackpool on Sunday 2 September.
The event saw Margaret facing a gruelling series of theory and practical tests in the competition, which is renowned for its toughness.
Tasks included bus safety checks and a series of manoeuvring exercises over a 3-mile test route, with every aspect of the course assessed and scored by marshals.
The competition tests drivers’ expertise and includes drivers from most of the major UK bus operators: Go-Ahead, First Group, National Express, Stagecoach, RATP Group, as well as independent and municipal bus operators all competing for the top accolade.
Well done Margaret for making it to the national finals after taking top honours at the intercompany regional finals earlier in the year.
